PART 3
Go back and find all of the Medium #1, Medium #2, and Dark pieces which you cut during Part 1 of this series to use either with or without Triangles on a Roll.
For Medium #1 and Dark combination:
Plan A: If you will be using Triangles on a Roll, match up your four sets of your Medium #1 and Dark rectangles (each 8" wide by WOF) which you cut during Part 1, right sides together. Then cut four (4) pieces of your Triangles on a Roll paper to layer on top of them. (You should be able to get 10 squares along the length of each paper strip.) Pin the Triangles on a Roll paper on top of your fabrics. Following the manufacturer's instructions, you will make a total of 160 half-square triangle units. Repeat with your remaining two 8" squares of Med. #1/Dark which you also cut during Part 1. You should now have a total of 168 half-square triangle units.
If you will NOT be using Triangles on a Roll, match up your large pieces of Medium #1
and Dark rectangles (each 36 by WOF), right sides together. Make sure the grid you
drew on the wrong side of your Medium #1 fabric is on top (so you can see the grid).
Pin them together and sew 1/4" seam on BOTH sides of each DIAGONAL line. Then
rotary cut the units apart on ALL of the solid lines. Press seam allowance toward
your Dark fabric. You should now

Plan B: If you will be using Triangles on a Roll, match up pairs of your Medium #1s and Dark 8" squares which you cut during Part 1 of this series. Then cut 21 squares (the grids should each be two squares across by 2 squares vertically) of your Triangles on a Roll paper, and pin one square of paper on top of each pair of your Med. #1/Dark fabrics. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to turn each of these squares into eight half-square triangle units. When it's all said and done, you should end up with a total of 168 half-square triangle units. (Inspector's note: the Cutting instructions asked you to cut 23 Medium #1 squares, but should have said to cut only 21; we regret the error, and will try to do better next time!!)
If you will NOT be using Triangles on a Roll, match up 21 pairs of your Medium #1s and Dark 8" squares which you cut during Part 1 of this series. With right sides together and the grids you drew during Part 1 on top, sew with 1/4" seam on BOTH sides of each DIAGONAL line. Then rotary cut the units apart on the solid lines. Press seam allowances toward your Dark fabrics. You should end up with a total of 168 half-square triangle units. (Inspector's note: the Cutting instructions asked you to cut 23 Medium #1 squares, but should have said to cut only 21; we regret the error, and will try to do better next time!!)
For Medium #2 and Dark combination:
Plan A: Follow the same procedure as above in Medium #1/Dark instructions for making a total of 280 half-square triangle units. Set aside eight (8) of them for another project; they are extras.
Plan B: Follow the same procedure as above in Medium #1/Dark instructions for making a total of 272 half-square triangle units.
Now you can go on to Part 4 of "The Mystery of the Scrappy Queen!"
