Darkroom and
Photography Classes The Camera Doctor is offering
regular darkroom and photography classes at our shop on
North Decatur Road. Class sessions run for varying lengths of time. Complete darkroom facilities
and supplies are available. Refer to this page for the latest
updates. FALL 2008 PHOTOGRAPHY & DARKROOM CLASS BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 24 A new Wednesday night photography and darkroom class with Maureen Holmberg begins September 24, 2008. The class will run once a week for seven weeks. through November 12, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. The class is an introduction to black-and-white photography, and requires no previous experience with a 35mm film camera or the darkroom. The first few weeks of class will focus on the development of technical proficiency using the camera and B&W printing from negatives. While continuing to refine these basic skills, the remaining weeks' emphasis will shift to use of the medium to express a personal vision. Students are strongly encouraged to shoot at least two rolls of film per week.
TOY CAMERA CLASS OFFERED DECEMBER 6 A three-hour introduction to toy camera photography will be offered Saturday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to noon. Taught by Rob Holland, the class will offer hands-on tutorials on loading, shooting, and unloading Holga and Diana cameras, and will feature a shooting session during class. Students will bring their exposed film back to the shop for free development and will be able to see the results in class. Other topics include the history of toy cameras, a survey of books, websites, and magazines, and other information and lore. Learn about one of the fastest-growing areas in photography today! We hire experienced, enthusiastic, and friendly instructors. Currently classes are taught by Decatur photographers Phil Mosier, Maureen Holmberg, and Rob Holland. As we hire additional instructors, we will be offering additional classes in special techniques and approaches to photography. Check back here for new offerings.
