Star Burst
(12" finished block, Make one block)

(A) Black
Cut 4 squares 3 1/2"
Cut 1 square 7 1/4", cut twice diagonally

(C) Red
Cut 4 squares 3 7/8", cut once diagonally

(F) Blue
Cut 1 square 6 1/2"

Assembly & Block Construction of Star Burst

1. Sew one (C) Red HST to one (A) Black QST. See diagram 1 for placement.

2. Referring to diagram 2 sew one (C) Red HST to the unit from step 1. Flying geese unit made. Measurement check should measure 3 1/2" x 6 1/2"

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 three more times for a total of 4 flying geese units.

4. Sew one (A) Black 3 1/2" squares to opposite sides of one Flying Geese unit. See diagram 3 for placement. Measurement check should measure 3 1/2" x 12 1/2"

5. Repeat step 4 one more time for a total of two row 1's. Press and label Row 1 and Row 3.

6. Sew one Flying Geese unit to opposite sides of one (F) Blue 6" square. See diagram 4 for placement. Press and label row 2. Measurement check should measure 6 1/2" x 12 1/2"

7. Sew rows together as show in row construction diagram to complete the block.

8. Press and check to see if your block measures 12 1/2" square.
